What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a program funded by the Australian Government to help with the costs associated with having a disability. The NDIS helps ensure that people with disabilities and their families have the supports they need.
The Scheme is for Australians under 65 years old, who have a permanent and significant disability and is designed to help participants achieve their goals and live to their full potential.
What does the NDIS fund?
Registered participants can access ‘reasonable and necessary’ supports to help participants achieve their goals and live a full and independent life. Podiatry services are one of the support services covered by the NDIS and therefore, may be part of your plan.
What you need to know
To access Ozfeet’s podiatry services under the NDIS, you will need to bring the following to your appointment:
• Your contact details
• NDIS number
• NDIS plan and start date
It’s also recommended that you bring:
• A list of medications that you may be taking
• Your medical history
• Results of any tests that you may have undergone such as x-rays, ultrasounds, etc.
How long does it take?
An initial NDIS assessment will usually be 30 minutes to one hour.
